1. Scope & who this covers

This Privacy Policy applies to visitors of helplinenfp.org, people who request charitable support, donors, volunteers, and anyone who emails admin@helplinenfp.org. It covers information collected through this website and related email. Independent services such as 911, 988, Illinois 211, PayPal, and Google Maps publish their own policies when you choose to use them.

2. Data we collect

You may provide your name, email, phone, mailing address, household size, town, the nature of a help request, volunteer availability, and donation-related correspondence. If you donate online, PayPal (or another processor linked from the Donate page) collects payment details. We may receive limited technical data such as browser type, device category, referring page, and timestamps from our hosting provider to keep the site secure. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank PINs, or full card numbers on our contact form—please do not type payment card data into message fields.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to respond to support requests, schedule relief pickups, match volunteers, issue donation acknowledgments, meet legal and accounting duties of a public charity, protect safety, and improve website clarity. We do not use this site to display Google AdSense or other third-party display advertising networks.

4. Cookie policy

helplinenfp.org is primarily a static public-information site. We use an essential preference cookie/local storage flag to remember if you accepted this site’s cookie notice. Your browser may store ordinary technical cookies required by PayPal when you leave our domain to complete a donation. You can block or delete cookies in browser settings; program pages will still load. We do not set advertising remarketing cookies from this website.

5. Google Analytics & advertising compliance

If we enable Google Analytics or similar measurement tools in the future, we will update this section before collection begins and configure IP anonymization / consent where required. If Help Line Charity Foundation NFP participates in Google Ads or Google Ad Grants, ads will send visitors to pages we control on helplinenfp.org. We do not host AdSense units. This Privacy Policy exists so users arriving from a search ad can understand how a nonprofit handles contact, donation, and help-request data before submitting a form.

6. Donor privacy guarantee

We never sell or rent donor data. We do not exchange donor lists with other organizations for commercial purposes. Online gifts complete on PayPal’s secure HTTPS checkout; card numbers, security codes, and bank logins are entered on the processor’s page, not on a form we host. We may receive your name, email, gift amount, and transaction identifier for thank-you letters and charity records. Help-seeker stories are confidential within the team that needs them to provide aid and are not published without consent, except where law requires reporting (including Illinois mandated-reporter obligations) or where sharing is reasonably necessary to prevent serious bodily harm.

7. CCPA / GDPR-aligned user rights

Depending on your location, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold, subject to records we must keep for tax, safety, or charity-law reasons. Email admin@helplinenfp.org with “Privacy request” in the subject line. California residents may also request a disclosure of categories of personal information collected; we do not sell personal information as that term is used in the California Consumer Privacy Act. European visitors may request data portability and restriction of processing where applicable. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

8. Security, children, third parties & changes

This website is intended to be served only over HTTPS at helplinenfp.org. Contact-form messages are transmitted to admin@helplinenfp.org through a form-delivery service (Web3Forms when an access key is configured, otherwise FormSubmit). Those providers receive the fields you submit in order to email them to us. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 for marketing; a parent or guardian should complete the Request Support form on a child’s behalf. We may update this policy as programs or processors change; the effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you have had an opportunity to read the revised text.
