Programs & Initiatives
Deep-dive into our three flagship programs—schedules, eligibility, and how to participate. Request intake via the contact form or admin@helplinenfp.org.

24/7 Community Crisis Helpline & Counseling
The helpline is our front door. Coordinators listen first, screen for safety, and map next steps for food, housing, grief, parenting stress, or mental-health crisis. Counseling through our program is short-term community support plus warm referrals to licensed clinicians and pastoral care when the caller chooses.

Emergency Food, Shelter & Basic Needs Relief
We stock nonperishable food, hygiene kits, baby items when donations allow, and seasonal clothing. Housing help is navigation—photographing notices, listing due dates, and connecting to township, congregational, or 211 resources. Modest, receipted disbursements toward reconnection or short lodging may be issued when funds and verification allow.
3,200+ families supplied with essentials

Youth Mentorship & Educational Empowerment
Mentors meet students in public settings—libraries and partner classrooms—not private homes. Volunteers are screened and briefed on Illinois mandated-reporter duties. Educational assistance may include backpacks, fee contributions, wiped donated devices, or modest awards for books or community-college courses based on demonstrated need.

Testimonials from neighbors & partners
“I wrote at midnight about a shutoff notice. By morning someone had answered, and that Saturday we left with groceries and a written plan. They did not promise what they could not pay—and that honesty mattered.”
— Parent, Matteson (Emergency Relief participant)
“Our congregation packs coats beside their volunteers every winter. Help Line Charity Foundation NFP treats partner churches as equals—not as a logo farm—and families feel that respect on the sidewalk.”
— Community partner, south suburban Cook County
“My mentor meets me at the library after school. We work math and also talk about staying in class when home is loud. The backpack and the person who shows up both count.”
— High-school student, Rich Township area (Youth Program)
